Tuesday 7pm & Thursday 6.15pm

In 2014, I began a weight loss journey myself. I was fed up with being overweight, unhappy and generally not pleased with what I saw in the mirror. I joined a fitness program…I’m not going to say it was easy, but I learned how to take better care of myself. Respect my body and had a great bunch of people to get me through it.

Unfortunately circumstances led to my moving back home and quitting my job withing 6 months of this and I needed a career change.
I wanted to be able to wake up in the morning and love what I do. Love Monday’s not HATE them as the advert goes.
My mental health hasn’t always been brilliant so loosing the weight and finding a passion for something helped me a great deal.
When mum could see that I was getting better and improving my skills and loving my college, she pointed me in JBD’s direction. I had no idea that it would lead to this fantastic partnership we have formed.
To me the classes inspire me and give me the courage to keep going and remember why I started this journey in the first place.
If I can help and or inspire one person to love themselves and start that change then I know I’ll have made it and the journey has been wasted.

Our Cover Instructors

I’m a qualified CNHC registered Nutritional Therapist and author of Eat to Outsmart Cancer. My specialism is evidence based nutritional and lifestyle advice which can be applied to any health concern and also in prevention,

I have also recently qualified as an exercise to music teacher and now I teach Dance Fitness at JBD Fitness & Dance.

I provide a functional medicine approach which works well alongside mainstream medicine. Fundamentally this involves looking at health from a holistic perspective – identifying connections and interactions between the various bodily systems. The aim is to restore homeostasis and facilitate the body to heal through root cause resolution. What is it that has contributed to the disease state?

Originally from a scientific background, I developed a keen interest in healthcare following my own recovery from breast cancer in 2003.  Through my diagnosis, what I learnt about food, nutrition and health shocked me. That you can change your biochemistry through what you eat and how you live your life gave me a whole new perspective. In addition to medical treatment, I dramatically changed my diet, took supplements, and embraced lifestyle change including yoga and meditation. It has been easy to maintain these changes because the rewards are that I have never felt so good!

My aim now is to inspire others to take control of their own health. To resolve any niggly symptoms at an early stage before they manifest into something more serious, or to help you recover health and thrive.

I have always been interested in sports, exercise and well being from a child and entered into competitive Gymnastics and Judo as well as enjoying Ballet, Tap and Modern Dance.

While working at a GP Health Centre as a Nurse Technician I was asked to run a Weight Loss Clinic to help patients that needed to lose weight because of diabetes, raised Blood Pressure and other co-morbidities.
During this time (2009/10) I was always being asked about exercise so decided to do my ETM exam, which is when I met Jo as a Rosemary Conley Instructor.
Once I gained my qualification, I was in a better position to give advice on exercise and also contra- indications to exercise.
Seven years ago I became self employed and this has been one of my reasons for going on further in qualifying in Level 4 exercise prescription for special populations e.g. Low Back Pain, Scoliosis, Osteoporosis, MS, Chair/ Reduced Mobility and Parkinson’s plus recently becoming a Phase IV Postural Stability Instructor working with Physio’s and within Falls Prevention Clinics as well as teaching main stream classes locally.

I enjoy working with people and helping them keep as fit and mobile as long as possible, so that we can enjoy all that life has to offer.

I also like to set myself challenges which started with a 12,000 foot Parachute jump, 5k Muddy Mucker for Iain Rennie, 12 mile Tough Mudder twice, for Help for Heroes Charity and next year I am competing in the London Rat Race which is a 20 mile Obstacle course and in Sept 2018 I am cycling 240 miles from London to Paris bike for 3 women’s Cancer charities.

I am a married Mum with 2 energetic boys and live near Leighton Buzzard. I work for an Independent Insurance Broker in Tring.

On turning 40 and wanting to lose my baby weight, I found a love for running and joined a local gym.In July this year I qualified to teach exercise to music and I have subsequently passed my assessment to teach Body Pump.

I am so excited to join Jo and her team at JBD and share my passion for exercise with you.
