Welcome to our dance page

We offer one to one tuition with over 20 years’ experience in different styles of dance. We will approach your dance with fun and patience, giving you the confidence, you need to enjoy your first dance. I also help with group dances and Hen/Stag dances for that different touch to your special day.

Personal touch

You choose your song and we will help you choose a dance to suit the song. If you are unsure where to start, we can help with that too. All dances are choreographed with the brides dress in mind and any suggestions or requests you have

I’ve never danced before

Do not worry, most couples haven’t and by the end you will have a routine that you never thought was possible. We work slowly through the steps making sure you are comfortable and confident, tailoring everything to suit you and and requests you have. By splitting the lessons up over a period of weeks you can learn little and often, rather than being bombarded and confused with too much information in one go. Our emphasis is on fun and confidence, for a special moment to be remembered forever.

One to one

We offer one to one tuition with over 20 years experience in different styles of dance.  We will approach your dance with fun and patience, giving you the confidence you need to enjoy your first dance.

You decide

You choose your song and we will help you choose a dance to suit the song. If you are unsure where to start, we can help with that too. All dances are choreographed with the brides dress in mind and any suggestions or requests you have.

Where and when do lessons take place?

Your dance lessons can take place in the comfort of your own home, with flexible lesson times to suit your work or social commitments, or if you prefer a hired venue can be arranged for you (at the venue hire costs). Lessons can take place daytimes, evenings, or weekends.

How many lessons will we need?

The amount of lessons you may need depends on tempo and length of song and of course what you are looking for. We can adjust your routine to suit how much time you are able to put in. I do advise 5 hours to complete a fully polished  routine, obviously you can have more than this but this is what we suggest to learn your dance comfortably. Lessons can be split into 45 minutes, 1-hour sessions, 90 min session or 2-hour sessions, the choice is yours. If you don’t want a routine and maybe just some time to learn a few simple steps for confidence I recommend 1 or 2 hours for this. The amount of lessons you have is your choice, We can arrange everything to suit the time you have available and budget, there’s always options and alternatives.

When should we start the lessons?

In an ideal world we advise starting around 6-8 weeks before your wedding, this way you can learn over a period of time while you are feeling semi relaxed, finishing your routine with a few weeks to spare. This way you are not learning new steps just a few days before and also you have time for extra practise if needed. Obviously this time plan doesn’t always happen as wedding planning can take over your life and before you know it you haven’t started your lessons yet and you have 3 weeks to go!!! Don’t worry there are always options and we will make sure your routine is still complete and that you know it inside out and back to front before the day.

What should we wear?

Comfortable, everyday clothes are fine.

I had learnt some dance styles many years ago, and Katherine had never done any dancing. We didn’t have any reservations working with Jo herself, as she had come highly recommended by the local vicar’s wife.  Katherine had some reservations about whether she would be any good at dancing having never done it before! Jo put us both at ease from the first lesson.  She was patient and encouraging throughout, and allowed us to learn a bit at a time, building on our existing knowledge each week.  Jo was also really flexible with us with regards to lesson times and dates; if we were unable to attend one week we were able to re-book that lesson at the end, and she added a couple of extra lessons on for us at the end to boost our confidence. Our Confidence grew dancing, and we loved dancing together. A wonderful routine to one of our favourite songs for our first dance at our wedding… and on the day it all went exactly right.
In summary, Jo is a wonderful teacher who is kind, considerate and approachable.  She is very perceptive and aware of your needs and personal circumstances, and able to teach you accordingly.  We would definitely recommend her!
